Shi Lilang is a Shaolin Monk, and he is capable of walking on water. He accomplished the feat by sprinting across floating woods, reported MTV. Swimming across the entire length of a water body is itself a taxing job and running on water is definitely a daunting task. A Shaolin monk has been practicing walking on water for more than a decade and has set a new world record beating his own previous challenge.

"People need to trust themselves. Last year, I failed five times, and I managed to run 118 meters successfully," Shi, the Shaolin Monk who has been walking on water told New China TV in an interview.

The plywood boards were floating on the river and did not prop up Shi Lilang in the water. They provided the necessary traction for Shi to try walking on water to beat his own previous record of 120 meters set earlier in January. It took him three attempts to brek his own record.

Lilang is a member of Buddhist Quanzhou Shaolin Temple. Shi attributes his success to his routine at the monastery which emphasises that the human strength is purely governed by the mind. There is no limit to what can be achieved if the human mind is focussed and determined to achieve, reported DailyMailUK.  Shaolin monks are regarded as inventors of Kung Fu. They base their life on exercise, contemplation and discipline.

Most attendees of Shaolin temples challenge themselves to accomplish tasks that are considered as almost impossible by anyone. They stretch themselves to master their skills and achieve their goals with discipline and perseverance.

The secrets of Shaolin remain a mystery since they are not taught to outsiders and are passed on from one generation to the next in the temple.
