As Moon Chae Won is considering whether or not to take a role in the upcoming drama "Green Scalpel," you may want to know more about this talented and dedicated actress. Here are five fun facts you may not know.

1. Although she enjoys performing in historical dramas, she considers them a challenge.

"Since I'm a person of the present, it's not easy and having a command of the old language is difficult," said Moon.

That's not to say that she didn't work hard in the historical dramas she appeared in. For her role as the sole lead female character, Ja In in the film "War of Arrows," she took riding lessons and studied archery. Her dedication to that character won her Best Newcomer awards in both the Grand Bell Awards and Blue Dragon Film Awards.

2. Despite her doubts, her portrayal in a historical drama made awards history. For an earlier saeguk, "Painter of the Wind," she won a Best Screen Couple Award with actress Moon Geun Young. It was the first time in kdrama history that two actresses won Best Screen Couple. In that drama, Moon played the gisaeng Jeong Hyang, who falls for Moon Geun Young's character Shin Yoon Bok, a girl pretending to be a man.

3. Rumors that she had plastic surgery were dispelled when she released her high school photos. She has not had work done but does admit to being very careful with her skin.

"Nice skin requires work," said Moon. "Your skin dries out on a lighted set. Whenever I have a break, I spray on mist and touch up my base foundation. I also apply a face masque once or twice a week to brighten my skin tone and use a concentrated herbal cream before I go to sleep."

4. She likes to vacation with her family. While she enjoys day trips with friends, long vacations are for spending time with those close to her.

"Because I'm the type that finds comfort in everyday things, I choose to go on long trips with my family," she said.

5. She spends a considerable amount of time researching roles, including watching other work done by the director, writer and her co-stars.
"No matter how small a role, I need to research it beforehand. It's important to know how my partner works and it shortens the time it takes me to get in step with him. Even if it's a different role, the actor doesn't diverge much from his original ways."

So, if she takes the role of hospital volunteer Cha Yoon Seo in "Green Scalpel," she will soon have to marathon watching Joo Won in "Bridal Mask" and "Level 7 Civil Servant."
