'Decision To Leave' Ignored At The Academy Awards
Park Hae Il and Tang Wei's "Decision To Leave" is deliberately ignored at the Oscars nomination.
On January 24, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) revealed the list of the official nominations for the 95th Academy Awards. Unfortunately, Park Chan Wook's "Decision To Leave" wasn't included in the list.
The film depicts a love story that touches the hearts of the viewers, transcending time and fate. It was previously named as one of South Korea's entries for the Best International Feature Film, however, it was excluded from the final nominations.
Many film enthusiasts are depressed with the decision of the board of judges of the Oscars, especially when "Decision To Leave" was selected as the Best Drama of 2022.
It also garnered the Best Director and Best Foreign Language Film nominations at the British Academy (BAFTA).
"One of the most surprising things this year that got me to open my eyes wide this morning," one of the fans stated. "The Oscars' decision to ignore the film is an absolute crime."

Many viewers believed that the 2022 film would be the next South Korean title that would bag an Oscar, following "Parasite." This issue became a hot topic around the world, trending at third place in Twitter worldwide.
Though "Decision To Leave" didn't make it to the Oscars nominations, the film has proved itself and its potential at the Cannes film festival.
It also earned Park Chan Wook the Best Director award at the Florida Film Critics Awards, Critics Choice Awards, Buil Film Awards and Cannes Film Festival.
'Decision To Leave' Sweeps Awards At Blue Dragon Film 2022
Apart from the aforementioned awards shows, "Decision To Leave" also took home six trophies from the Blue Dragon Film Awards in 2022 including Best Film, Best Actors and more.
Park Hae Il was hailed Best Actor of the year, thanks to his impressive performance as Jang Hae Jun. Meanwhile, Tang Wei, the actress who headlined the film, became the first foreign actress to win at the prestigious event.

This 2023, the production unit of the film hopes to bag major awards at the British Academy Film Awards, which will be held on February 19 at the Royal Festival Hall in London.
