Song Joong Ki returned to the silver theaters this fall with the noir film "Hopeless," which successfully entered the box office, besting a slew of newly released films.

The film marks the Hallyu superstar's first film in two years after "Space Sweepers," and the first ever silver screen project in six years, following "The Battleship Island."

Song Joong Ki's Noir Film 'Hopeless' Tops Box Office

The newest noir film "Hopeless" starring Song Joong Ki successfully debuted this October as it effortlessly entered the charts on its premiere.

Also starring Hong Xa Bin, "Hopeless" tells the story of a young man wishing to escape his hellish life who meets a leader of an organized gang, and gets entangled in the world of crime.

"Hopeless" was first screened at the 76th Cannes Film Festival and 25th Busan International Film Festival and received favorable reviews from viewers and critics alike.

Song Joong Ki's noir film hit the screen nationwide on October 11, and immediately took the second spot at the box office charts with more than 61,000 admissions and grossed 427,000 USD.

The Hallyu superstar returned to the big screen with flying colors, much to the fans' delight. On the other hand, Kang Ha Neul and Jung So Min's rom-com film "Love Reset" took the No. 1 spot at the box office.

It has grossed 7,000,000 USD and accumulated 856,000 admissions as of October 11, followed by Uhm Jung Hwa's "Miss Fortune," "Dr. Cheon and the Last Talisman" and "Road To Boston."

"I received many offers when I didn't want to accept any work but when I read the script for "Hopeless," it frustrated me a lot," Song Joong Ki said. "There's no way I'd refuse that kind of masterpiece."

In fact, Song Joong Ki participated in the film without pay as he has fallen deeply for the film. He also stated that he wants the viewers to discover his co-star Hong Xa Bin's great skills as a rookie.

Moreover, "Hopeless" is a film of hope, trust and new beginnings that may bring comfort to the viewers this fall. Make sure to check it out in cinemas nationwide.
