This year will see two film collaborations between actors Jung Woo Sung and Choi Jin Hyuk.

The actors will be co-stars in the film “God’s Trick,” which begins filming in August. But that won’t be the first time they work together. Jung Woo Sung has already directed Choi Jin Hyuk in a short fantasy film for a branded project.

“God’s Trick,” the film about a professional chess player who makes a comeback also stars Lee Bum Soo, Kim In Kwon and Ahn Sung Ki. Jung Woo Sung is the chess player and Choi Jin Hyuk assists his enemy.

Both Jung Woo Sung, whose film “Cold Eyes” has sold five million tickets at the box office and Choi Jin Hyuk who played the mountain spirit Wol Ryung in the recent hit drama “Gu Family Book” are very much in demand at the moment. So any project that involves both of them is sure to draw attention.

The short film that Jung Woo Sung recently directed was called “Beginning of a Dream.” It was a project for the Samsung and Galaxy S4 smartphone. Jung Woo Sung’s first short film, “Love,” had almost two million views on YouTube.

In the short film, Choi Jin Hyuk is a worker who dreams of living a fantasy life. In his dream, he sees some fantastic things, including large blue fish swimming through the sky and a boy floating past on a balloon. He gets to drive a sports car and hang out with a band in their van. When his character loosens his tie, you can feel him relax into his fantasy. Although Jung Woo Sung remained behind the camera in this short film, you can briefly see his smiling image in a passing balloon.

Jung Woo Sung conceived the idea for the short film. He then approached Choi Jin Hyuk about starring in it. The two enjoyed working together and consider the collaboration a success.

“The teamwork between director Jung Woo Sung and main actor Choi Jin Hyuk was the best,” said a production official. “Director Jung Woo Sung is known to be very kind on set and his synergy with Choi Jin Hyuk’s quickness, concentration and ability to understand and express his character made the piece even better.”

Choi, who made his debut in 2006 is set to star with Lee Min Ho, Park Shin Hye, Kim Woo Bin, Kang Ha Neul, ZE:A’s Park Hyungsik and f(x)’s Krystal in the upcoming drama “The Heirs.”
