Apple is looking out for a manufacturer for its upcoming Apple Watch 2. The Cupertino, Calif.-based tech firm is currently in talks with Inventec, Wistron and Foxconn Electronics to manufacture its follow-up smartwatch alongside Quanta Computer.

According to a report coming from the DigiTimesApple originally planned to place orders for six million Apple Watches for the holiday quarter, the company has now reduced the order volume to four million in wake of lack luster demand for the device. The tech giant is expecting sales for the wearable device to surpass 10 million units by 2015 end.

The report also alleges that Quanta Computer, which invested heavily in equipment for Apple Watch's manufacturing, has not yet seen the kind of return it was expecting for the device. So, the profit factor remains a concern for the ODMs that have been approached as a secondary supply partner.

Apple's second-generation Apple Watch is expected to be rolled out after the second quarter of 2016.

Recently, during an investor meeting, Quanta Computer's chairman Barry Lam commented that the upcoming Apple Watch 2 is under heavy manufacturing process and that it will be launched sometime late in Q2 2016. Although, Lam did not mention a specific release date for the device, he revealed that a batch of Apple Watch 2 devices will be shipped in the second quarter of 2016, while mass shipment of the device will begin in the third quarter, according to CultofMac.

As far as Apple Watch 2 specifications are concerned, it is rumored that the smartwatch will feature a front-facing camera for FaceTime conversations and selfies, a thinner and brighter Oled screen, a larger battery and a better wireless chip which will let it connect to an iPhone without the need for a constant Bluetooth connection, reported MacRumors.
