Female K-Pop Idols Who Became K-drama Stars

Did you know that most of the Korean drama stars were K-pop idols from the start? Some of them were part of a girl group and some were soloist singers. Here are the talented idols-slash-actors that became famous within the Korean entertainment. 

1. Bae Suzy from miss A

If you are a K-drama addict, you probably watched Dream High (2011) where Bae Suzy plays a student who dreams to become an idol. This drama has quite a resemblance in her life experiences since she became part of the group Miss A under the entertainment agency.

She was also the lead in Uncontrollably Fond (2016) with Kim Woo Bin. You can see her more improved acting skill in While You Were Sleeping (2017) with Lee Jong Suk. We can see a new drama starring Bae Suzy in September 2019 entitled, Vagabond.

2. Lee Hyeri from Girl's Day

Lee Hyeri debuted as the youngest member of Girl's Day. Girl's Day was active from 2010 to 2016. They made a comeback in the year 2017 and disbanded last January 2019. Lee Hyeri debuted from acting in the year 2012. She took some minor roles in various Korean dramas. Reply 1988 (2015 to 2016) gave her a big break when she played opposite Ryu Jun Yeol and Park Bo Gum. She also starred in Entertainer (2016) and Two Cops (2017 to 2018). We are anticipating Lee Hyeri's upcoming drama Miss Lee that will premiere on September 2019.

3. IU

IU believes that you have to try harder and never quit. She failed 20 auditions and was scammed by a fake entertainment agencies pre-debut. Lee Ji Eun also is known as IU trained to be part of a girl group. Then she made a solo debut as a singer under LOEN Entertainment.

She had 4 studio albums and she already wrote a few song lyrics. She was busy starring K-dramas like Dream High (2011), The Producers (2015), the famous Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo (2016), My Mister (2018), Persona (2019), and the ongoing drama Hotel Del Luna (2019).

4. The girls from SNSD

The members of SNSD became the trainees and talents of SM Entertainment. All the members were very talented at singing and dancing. They formed a group that became popular in South Korea. The group has a hectic schedule with Korea and Japanese recordings, reality shows, and guests. Most of the members pursued their acting career. The group have not disbanded yet and still continues to make their fans proud. Some members became part of K-dramas like Yoona in The K2 (2016), Sooyoung in Squad 38 (2016), Seohyun in Time (2018), and Yuri in Innocent Defendant (2017).
