A South Korean court has sentenced a man to seven years in prison for breaking into the home of actress and singer Nana and committing a violent robbery, while also affirming that the entertainer acted in lawful self-defense during the incident.

On June 9, Soompi reported that the 1st Criminal Division of the Uijeongbu District Court's Namyangju Branch found the defendant, identified only as A, guilty of robbery resulting in bodily injury. The court said the severity of the crime, which involved a nighttime home invasion while armed with a weapon, warranted a strict punishment.

"The victims are reporting severe mental and physical distress and are requesting a stern punishment," the court said in its ruling. "As this is a serious crime that violated the peace of a residence, it is necessary to hold the defendant strictly accountable."

Prosecutors said the defendant broke into Nana's home in November 2025, threatening her and her mother with a weapon while demanding money. Although the attacker initially gained access to the residence, Nana and her mother managed to subdue him during the struggle, sustaining injuries in the process.

The court noted that evidence, including witness testimony and the defendant's own online searches about penalties for carrying weapons, supported the finding that the crime was premeditated and involved the use of a weapon.

In a key part of the ruling, the court also upheld findings consistent with police conclusions that Nana's actions during the incident constituted lawful self-defense. Investigators had previously determined that the force used by the actress was justified given the immediate threat posed by the armed intruder.

Authorities first reported the case in November 2025, following the arrest of the man who was charged with forcibly entering their house, menacing them, and stealing valuable property. The spokesperson from Nana's organization revealed that neither the actress nor her mother suffered any injuries that posed a threat to their lives as a result of this attack.

While the court case concluded, Nana's career continues to draw momentum. According to the South China Morning Post May 23 report, Nana has been offered a lead role in the upcoming Netflix thriller "Ma Theresa".

The report noted that the project follows her recent performance in the ENA mystery thriller "Climax" and places her among several high-profile Korean actors being considered for major international streaming productions.

The publication casting report also said that Nana remains active in the expanding global K-drama market, with multiple streaming platforms showing interest in her next move following her recent screen success.
