Song Joong Ki's father admitted that it was him and his son's fault. He claimed he should also be blamed for the divorce.
Song Yong Gak, Song Joong Ki's dad was revealed to have sent a text message to his close friends containing his apology for his son's divorce. He claims that he and his son (Song Joong Ki) should be blamed for what happened.
The text message of Song Yong Gak states:
"I apologize for the sad news. It seems like the reason for everything that happened is because Joong Ki and I are lacking. We will faithfully end everything well. We ask you to please give us a lot of encouragement and guidance, and watch over us. Have a healthy and happy day."
Song Yong Gak has always showed his love for his former daughter-in-law Song Hye Kyo. He even texts his friends to promote the actress' previous project 'Encounter' which she starred alongside actor Park Bo Gum.
The promotion text of Song Yong Gak states:
"Greetings, this is Song Yong Gak, Song Joong Ki's father.
Our charming daughter in law, Song Hye Kyo is going to star in a new drama titled 'Encounter' alongside actor Park Bo Gum. The drama's premier is on November 28 at 9:30 PM on tvN. The drama is said to feature a 'chemistry that has never been seen before' and has gained praises as a great and emotional drama. Since this is her comeback project after 'Descendants of the Sun' and her marriage, she has been devoting herself to the drama. I am asking everyone to, please watch the premier and spread the word out!
As others say, a daughter in law is most loved by her father in law. For this I hope that, Song Hye Kyo's drama does well and she can be an actress that is admired around the whole world. These are my only wishes as a father in law.

Just after the divorce news broke out, it was reported that Song Yong Gak didn't have any knowledge about the divorce until the media announced it. However another source stated that he very likely had an idea about it beforehand. There were also reports that Song Yong Gak shut himself inside his home and didn't go out after the sad news broke.

Way back July 5, 2017, Song Joong Ki and Descendants of The Sun co-star, Song Hye Kyo's respective agencies announced that they are aleady engaged. The couple tied the knot with a private ceremony held at Youngbingwan, Hotel Shilla in Seoul on October 31, 2017. The people present in the ceremony were their closest friends and family. Their love story was considered as a fairytale among their fans. However on June 26, 2019, everyone was shocked when Song Joong Ki filed for a divorce and it was finalized in July 2019 leaving the hearts of their fans broken.
