At the Dolby Theatre, the movie won Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for "Gold." But people quickly started talking about the moment when members of the production team seemed to be cut off in the middle of a speech, which led to accusations of unfair treatment online.

According to Naver, after winning Best Original Song, singer and composer Lee Jae took the stage with his collaborators. She got emotional during her speech and talked about her journey. She said, "I thank the Academy for giving me this wonderful award. Growing up, people teased me for liking 'K.' Now, we are all singing songs with Korean lyrics. I am proud."

The outlet stated that after Lee Jae finished speaking and gave the microphone to another team member, the sound suddenly stopped and transition music started playing. Even though the team tried to keep talking, the music kept playing, and the broadcast switched to a wide shot of the stage, which effectively ended their acceptance speech.

MK's coverage focused on broadcaster Ahn Hyun-mo's reaction, as he was streaming the event live. She didn't like how the moment was handled. She said,"The acceptance speech for the Best Short Film award earlier was really long, but they unusually rushed the speech for the 'Kedehern' team, which had many winners."

Since then, people have been talking about the incident online, with some people wondering if the interruption was unfair. Reports have called the controversy a "racism" issue, but the Academy has not yet made an official statement about it.

K-Pop Demon Hunters is a mix of K-pop and a supernatural story. It follows a made-up idol group that fights evil spirits with music. The movie's original soundtrack, which includes the song "Gold," has done very well around the world.

The song became very popular, with the made-up group Hunttrix topping the Billboard Hot 100 chart for eight weeks. The movie had already gained a lot of attention during the awards season, winning at the Golden Globe Awards and then becoming the first K-pop movie to win a Grammy for Best Song Written for Visual Media.
