Kim Hyun Joong's Ex-Girlfriend to Pay a Fine Costs $90,000
The legal battle between Kim Hyun Joong and his ex-girlfriend (hereafter referred to as "A") has finally nearing to end.
In August 2014, a legal battle happened between Kim Hyun Joong and his ex-girlfriend when "A" sued the actor for physical assault, which resulted in damages to 6 of her ribs. However, when Kim Hyun Joong issued an apology, charges were dropped, and the lawsuit came to an end. However, the actor was still fined 600 million KRW (~ 540,000 USD) in damages, and 'A' promised secrecy regarding the issue. Kim Hyun Joong was additionally charged with physical assault and fined 5 million KRW.
In February 2015, a magazine reported that Kim Hyun and 'A' had reunited and that the girl was pregnant. As a response to this issue, the actor made a press release and stated that he had not seen 'A' since she told him that she was pregnant in January and could not confirm if he was the father.
Then, in April of 2015, 'A' filed another lawsuit against Kim Hyun Joong for damages. She claimed that she had a miscarriage and experience emotional stress due to the actor's physical assault. 'A' also claimed that Kim Hyun Joong's side allegedly forced her into getting an abortion. Then in July of the same year, Kim Hyun Joong filed a counter lawsuit against 'A' for violating their previous court contract and defamation of character.
Fast Forward to Nov. 12, the Seoul Supreme Court reached a decision and ordered singer/actor Kim Hyun Joong's ex-girlfriend 'A' to pay the actor 100 million KRW (~ 90,000 USD) plus additional damage costs for defamation of character.
During the ex-couple's legal battle, 'A' gave birth to Kim Hyun Joong's son in September of 2015. It has been reported that 'A' is currently raising the child independently, and Kim Hyun Joong( who is said to be the father) is banned from seeing the child.
Over a period of time, with several district court rulings, appeal trials, and more, the Supreme Court has finally made their decision and ruled as of Nov. 12 that there is small evidence to believe 'A' suffered a miscarriage or was forced to get an abortion.
South Korean actor, singer, and songwriter Kim Hyun Joong was born on June 6, 1986. The celebrity is a member of the boy band SS501 and starred in Korean dramas Boys Over Flowers and Playful Kiss. The singer and actor released his first Japanese solo album, Unlimited, in 2012. Due to his commercial success, the actor is considered one of South Korea's biggest Hallyu stars in the early 2010s. Kim Hyun Joong described himself as a studious child; however, he dropped out of high school to pursue his dream in the music industry.
Then in March 2017, the news went out that the actor was charged with drunk driving after police found him passed out in his car at a traffic light in Seoul. His driver's license was revoked, and he was eventually fined for paying 2 million KRW.
