"Law School Episode 1" Recap

The show revolves around a group of first-year law students, who at first, felt terrorized by their genius and eccentric professors (normal for law school students on their first year), but eventually had to team up with their teachers to get to the bottom of a murder that transpired right in their school.

The scene opens to students at the premier school, Hankuk University Law School, engaging in a mock trial. While that was entertaining to watch, things started to get tense when the professor who is running the trial, Seo Byung-ju (Ahn Nae-sang), decided to take a break. When he's taking too long to come back from the said break, one of the students goes to his office and finds Seo dead.

Seo was an important figure for this school, having made a large contribution to the school to create the mock trial program, so his death cannot just be brushed off as an accident, let alone a suicide, even though there was a suicide letter found.

Who Killed Seo on "Law School" Episode 1?

While police are taking evidence, a prosecutor named Yang Joon-hoon (played by actor Kim Myung-min) enters and surveys the scene for possible clues. He noted the things poured down the drain and thrown in the trash and also saw the suicide note. He brushed aside the idea that what happened was suicide.

It must be noted that Yang and Seo had quite a complicated relationship. Yang is actually a former prosecutor who became a professor at the school after the ordeal of having to try Seo, the lead prosecutor, and his boss because of bribery.

There was a flashback of Seo even going to Yang's class after making his donation just to mock him.

Apart from this murder case the students and professors now have to solve, the first episode is full of twists and turns that are quite normal of the law school jungle. Yang can be seen making a female student vomit and telling her she must shape up, considering on her interview to get into law school, she provided a good reason why she wanted to become a lawyer.

The first episode is certainly jampacked. It's quite reminiscent of the American law school/law drama series, "How to Get Away with Murder," but with Korean flavor. With K-drama's penchants for twists, the show is something to watch out for.
