K-movie "Train to Busan" starring Hallyu star Gong Yoo, Ma Dong Seok, and more achieved global success with its heart-stopping plot and striking visuals, setting the bar high for other zombie films. 

It follows the story of Seo Suk Woo alongside his daughter and fellow passengers who are trapped on a high-speed train going to Busan during the onslaught of a virus outbreak. 

Directed and written by Yeon Sang Ho, the action thriller movie was released in July 2016 and instantly gained moviegoers' attention, raking a total of $93.1 million gross worldwide. 

In addition, Gong Yoo's movie also made history, setting the record of the first Korean film in 2016 to break the audience record of over 10 million spectators.

Although these types of the genre are extremely popular nowadays, not to mention the crazy that the American Hit TV Series "The Walking Dead" has created, "Train to Busan" on the other hand, is the first South Korean zombie film ever released in theaters. 

Four years later, the director dropped the much-awaited sequel titled "Peninsula," featuring the aftermath of the zombie outbreak. 

Now, it's been five years since the blockbuster movie aired, but it still remains as one of the best zombie films ever released.

Gong Yoo as Seo Suk Woo

In the popular K-zombie film, Gong Yoo played Seo Suk Woo, a fun manager who has a complicated relationship with his daughter. 

In hopes of winning his daughter's love, he decides to bring Seo Soo Ahn to Busan, where her mom lives. 

The Hallyu star received overwhelming praise from the viewers, lauding his outstanding acting as the doting father. 

After starring in "Train to Busan," Gong Yoo landed on several notable dramas, including "Goblin" and his recent film "Seobok" with Park Bo Gum. 

This coming year, the 42-year-old star will make a comeback on the small screen with the sci-fi drama "The Silent Sea" with a star-studded cast including Bae Doona.

Ma Dong Seok as Yoon Sang Hwa

One of the beloved characters in "Train to Busan" is Ma Dong Seok, who played Yoon Sang Hwa. 

He sacrificed his life by blocking the entrance of the train's cart after he was bitten by a zombie. 

Before his tragic death, he tells Suk Woo to protect and take care of his pregnant wife. 

Currently, he is making waves as one of the cast in the upcoming Marvel Studios film "The Eternals" together with Hollywood's biggest names like Angelina Jolie and "Game of Thrones" star Kit Harrington.

Kim Eui Sung as Yong Suk

The veteran actor took on the antagonist Yong Suk, the chief operating officer of Stallion Express, who manifested greed and cowardness. 

Due to his performance in the 2016 K-zombie movie, he took home the Best Supporting Actor at the 53rd Baeksang Arts Awards.

Now, fans would recognize the actor as he recently starred in the top rating revenge drama "Taxi Driver" with Lee Je Hoon. 

He is also set to appear in the upcoming series "Happiness" and two new films, "Unusual Delivery" and "Alien+People."

Choi Woo Shik as Min Young Guk

"Train to Busan" opened a lot of doors for Choi Woo Shik, where he played the baseball cutie Min Young Guk.

After landing the cast of the hit zombie film, the 31-year-old Korean-Canadian actor was also casted in critically acclaimed films like "Okja" and "Parasite."

This coming year, Choi Woo Shik is set to return in K-drama with rom-com series "Our Beloved Summer" opposite "Itaewon Class" actress Kim Da Mi.
