Before she rose to fame, Jun Ji Hyun starred in the 1999 K-drama "Happy Together," alongside "Squid Game" actor Lee Byung Hun and "Dinner Mate" star Song Seung Heon.
The story revolves around the love, conflicts, and reunion of five siblings who were separated at the death of their parents.
In addition, Jun Ji Hyun started working with Cha Tae Hyun in this drama before they teamed up in the hit romantic-comedy movie "My Sassy Girl" in 2001.
My Love From the Star
Fourteen years after "Happy Together," Jun Ji Hyun surprised the public when she starred in the fantasy romance series "My Love From the Star" in 2013. What made the viewers excited was the fact that she shared the screen with Kim Soo Hyun, who at that time was a rising celebrity.
The drama tells the story of Do Min Joon (Kim Soo Hyun), a 500-year-old alien trapped on Earth. He tries to fit in the modern day era to survive. Even though he is skeptical about humans, his perspective in life changes when he meets the beautiful but chaotic actress Cheon Song Yi (Jun Ji Hyun).
As a fresh onscreen couple at that time, the drama received massive support from overseas fans. "My Love From the Star" even has drama adaptations all across Asia!
The Legend of the Blue Sea
Jun Ji Hyun then went on a four-year hiatus to focus on her private life.
In 2016, the 40-year-old actress made a small screen comeback with "The Legend of the Blue Sea," along with Korean heartthrob Lee Min Ho. Here, she starred as a mermaid who fell in love with a con artist, and tried to live among humans while they are haunted by their past.
Fans were indeed over the moon to see the two elite stars in one drama. It was one of the highly anticipated projects of Jun Ji Hyun and Lee Min Ho in 2016.
Cha Tae Hyun, on the other hand, made a special appearance in this drama.

Kingdom: Ashin of the North
In 2021, a fiercer and bolder Jun Ji Hyun played the role of Ashin, a lady archer who harbors a dark past and eyes revenge.
As a fan of the series herself, Jun Ji Hyun expressed her gratitude to be part of the cast. It also gave her the opportunity to showcase a new side of herself as an actress.
