An interview of Lee Jung Jae became a trending topic online after an American reporter was unaware of his massive popularity before starring in the mega-hit Netflix series "Squid Game."

The 48-year-old South Korean actor is one of the lead stars in the dystopian thriller series alongside equally talented Park Hae Soo, Wi Ha Joon, and newcomer Jung Ho Yeon.

While in the United States, Lee Jung Tae, alongside the "Prison Playbook" star and the runway model turned actress, attended the Los Angeles screening for their movie.

The trio looked dazzling on the red carpet together with the genius behind "Squid Game" director Hwang Dong Hyuk.

Lee Jung Jae Politely Answered a cringeworthy question from a U.S Reporter

During the interview, the award-winning actor was asked by reporter Katie Krause a seemingly awkward question detailing his experience with the massive fame following the global success of Netflix's "Squid Game."

"I'm sure you can't leave the house anymore without people recognizing you. What has been the biggest life change for you since the series came out?" said Krause.

Through an interpreter, the 48-year-old star gracefully mentioned how he was "recognized by everybody everywhere," even in the United States.

Interestingly, Lee Jung Jae also shared his funny experiences in restaurants or on the streets.

"Sometimes, when they are staring at me, I get startled and think, 'Why are they looking at me like that? But then, when our eyes meet, they would instantly talk about 'Squid Game.' Those are the moments when I truly feel like we really did make it big," said the actor.

Fans Pointed Out How Cringey Lee Jung Jae's Interview with the Extra Reporter

As fans would know, Lee Jung Jae is a pillar in the South Korean entertainment industry and has been an actor for decades.

Over social media, the interview sparked the ire of fans, pointing out how cringey and awkward the interview went.

Others even highlighted how Lee Jung Jae is an icon and a living legend because of his contribution to the entertainment scene.

He made his debut in 1993 after landing a stint in the TV drama "Dinosaur Teacher," and since then, he starred in a slew of notable series such as the action-romance drama "Sandglass," where he won the Best New Actor trophy at the Baeksang Arts Awards.

His recent project was the 2020 movie "Deliver Us From Evil," which also became a blockbuster hit and, of course, the nine-part episode Kdrama "Squid Game," where he took on the role of player no. 456 Seong Gi Hoon who is among the debt-ridden participants in a deadly children-themed survival game.
