Lee Jun Young opens up about his thoughts regarding his past projects and plans for his career and enlistment. 

In his latest interview with Star News after winning the Best Choice Award for the Actor category at the 2021 Asia Artist Awards (AAA), the 25-year-old star spoke about his transition from a Kpop star to becoming an actor. 

Lee Jun Young Reveals Why 'D.P' is his Biggest' Turning Point'

The South Korean heartthrob debuted as a member of the Kpop group U-KISS back in 2014 but also took the opportunity to venture into acting. 

Now, he is making a name for himself as a singer and as an actor after landing notable dramas and films. 

He appeared as a lead star in MBC's "Goodbye to Goodbye" with Jo Bo Ah and Chae Shi Ra, the rom-com "Please Don't Date Him," and the webtoon-based series "Imitation" in 2021.

Apart from it, he also appeared as one of the supporting actors in Netflix's "D.P" which stars Jung Hae In and Goo Kyo Hwan.

During his interview, he calls the 6-part episode series as the "turning point" of his career. 

Lee Jung Young revealed that it was his first time doing an action series. 

Moreover, he also tells the outlet that he did a lot of preparations to show his capabilities despite appearing only in one episode. 

In Netflix's "D.P" the U-Kiss member portrayed Jung Hyun Min, one of the deserters in episode 3.

For the singer-actor, he was thankful for his appearance in the Netflix series. He said that "a lot of work has come in since then."

Now, Lee Jun Young shared that he is set to appear in two action movies-the first is the webtoon-based movie "Brave Citizen" with "Mr. Queen" star Shin Hye Sun, followed by the "Concrete Utopia" sequel, "The Wilderness" alongside Ma Dong Seok. 

Moreover, the U-Kiss member says that appearing in these types of genres will be a refreshing perspective for the audience since he usually stars in rom-com K-dramas. 

Lee Jun Young Shares Working Relationship with Girls' Generation's Seohyun

Apart from Netflix's "D.P," Lee Jun Young recently gained the public's attention after landing the lead role in "Love and Leashes." This was his movie debut. 

The BDSM-themed movie received a positive response from viewers due to his chemistry with Girls' Generation's Seohyun.

As his interview with Star News continued, he admitted that he felt "a lot of pressure" to best represent Jung Ji Hoo's emotions and personality. 

Meanwhile, he also spoke about his working relationship with Seohyun, noting that "there is a lot of camaraderies" between them. 

Moreover, he also mentioned that they "had a lot of time to rehearse together, and we had a lot of time to talk after filming."

While the singer-actor is booked and busy in the coming years, Lee Jun Young says that he has "high hopes" to enlist in the military but is quite engaged with his upcoming schedules. 

However, he still sees it as a "necessary experience" for him, hinting that he might soon join the enlistment and "also looking forward" to undergoing training.
