K-drama fans were delighted to learn the news that there are plans for "Arthdal Chronicles" Season 2. As an update, Shin Se Kyung and Lee Joon Gi might team up for the upcoming sequel.
'Arthdal Chronicles' Season 2 Update: Shin Se Kyung and Lee Joon Gi To Potentially Lead Drama
News1 published a report on April 20, announcing that Shin Se Kyung and Lee Joon Gi are courted to lead the forthcoming "Arthdal Chronicles" Season 2.
In addition, both South Korean stars confirmed they received the offer to star in the sequel but are still reviewing it.
If the "Run On" actress accepts the offer, she will take the role of Tanya, while Lee Joon Gi is in talks to portray Eun Seom and Saya.
Further details about their characters are yet to be announced.
What We Know So Far About 'Arthdal Chronicles' Season 2
Previously, Jang Dong Gun was the first among the original cast who confirmed his comeback in season 2. Song Joong Ki, Kim Ji Won, and Kim Ok Bin haven't released any statement yet regarding their appearances in the drama.
The much-awaited fantasy series is finally making its return with a new season after three years. It is expected to have lots of changes, particularly in the casting.
Now that two, Lee Joon Gi and Shin Se Kyung, are already named to possibly headline "Arthdal Chronicles" Season 2, expectations start to increase.
"Arthdal Chronicles" is a fantasy K-drama that premiered in 2019 on tvN. It depicts the birth of civilization and nations in ancient times, and a story that focuses on the mythical heroes, their struggles, love, and unity as they live in the place named Arth.

Though some viewers were not satisfied with how the story of season 1 progressed, audiences are expecting more development in the upcoming season 2. Writers Kim Young Hyun and Park Sang Yeon will pen the script while director Kim Won Seok who directed the previous season will pass the throne to Kim Kwang Sik.
In addition, since there are almost ten billion krw allotted for the production in season 1, there is a probability that season 2 may have the same estimated budget.
If Shin Se Kyung confirms her participation, this marks her first drama comeback following her JTBC series "Run On."
Once the casting is completed, filming will start. The production team has the goal to broadcast the fantasy series sometime in 2023.
