‘Once Upon a Small Town’ Episode 2: Red Velvet’s Joy, Choo Young Woo’s Unexpected Team Up

'Once Upon a Small Town' Episode 2 Recap: Did Ahn Ja Young Know Han Ji Yul From The Past?
The second episode starts with Officer Ahn Ja Young checking out an old notebook with a message that reads "I'm Han Ji Yul. I'll come back. Let's be secret friends."
However, she was annoyed that Ji Yul wouldn't even remember that they were friends during their childhood days.
Meanwhile, the town's head greeted everyone over the microphone and introduced Han Ji Yul, the grandson of Director Han, the town's resident veterinarian.
As his day continues at Heedong Village, Han Ki Yul misses the things he had in the city, like a cafe and having a nice coffee; however, it seems that there's no coffee place around the area.

In "Once Upon a Small Town" episode 2 Ji Yul is still not used to how pleasant everyone is. During his morning jog, he was stopped several times to be greeted by the villagers.
However, when he reached home, he saw a young neighbor opening his grandfather's front gate without a person. He reminded the kid that it is proper to knock first before entering; thankfully, Officer Ahn Ja Young explained to the frightened kid what Ji Yul meant.
Pig Vaccination Day
Since Han Ji Yul works at a veterinary clinic in Seoul, it is rare for him to handle animal pets, let alone pigs.
For his new task, a piggery owner called the clinic to have his pigs vaccinated.
Since he is the town's resident vet in the meantime, he had his full gear along with a surprise company, Officer Han, who helped him complete the vaccination.
Initially, the two were bickering about why an officer needed to be in the same place as him. Moreover, he still wants to get an apology after being suspected of being a thief.
Despite their hostility towards each other, they kept things professional and teamed up to finish the pigs' vaccination.
After a long and tiring activity, Ahn Ja Young mentioned that she is going to a cafe. Ji Yul's eyes lit up upon hearing it and asked if he could join her.
Han Ji Yul Meets Lee Sang Hyun
The duo reached a cute cafe, which was owned by her childhood friend Lee Sang Hyun, who is also the owner of the peach farm.
Being a local, he attempts to have small talk with Ju Yul, but he seems to know to draw the boundaries and comes off as not as friendly as they think he is.
In one scene, Officer Ahn and Lee Sang Hyun were talking about a robbery that happened in the cafe after losing 30,000 won.
The female officer was confused since most of the villagers here are elderly and knew each other really well.
Officer Ahn and Han Ji Yul Catch the Thief
In the last scene, Officer Ahn got a call about a burglar around the area. An old woman was seeking help to find the con artist who took her money and was wearing a red cap.
As she investigates, a young boy tells her that he saw a thief at director Ahn's place.
Trying to sneak inside the house, Ji Yul saw her opening the gate but explained that there was a thief inside.
Inside the house, they saw the thief trying to escape. Amid the chaos it left at the director's place, thankfully, the thief was arrested.
