Despite the downturn in rating, "Under the Queen's Umbrella" never fails to deliver an outstanding story and performance from the cast, giving the viewers every reason to look forward to the next episode.

'Under the Queen's Umbrella' Episode 3: Queen Dowager Knows About Her Grandson's Secret

The exam for the cohort selection has begun with the grand princes hoping to be considered as the next in line to the throne.

However, prior to the palace's big day, a consort discovered grand prince Gyesong's secret who was at his hideout.

Surprised by his identity and wanting to get the trust of the queen dowager, the consort immediately revealed this to the King's mother.

However, Queen Dowager Cho had a different reaction and accused the consort of telling lies, but the king's mother had other plans.

Grand Prince Gyesong and Grand Prince Seongnam Make it at the Cohort's Selection

The day has come for the gran princes to test their knowledge and skills to be the next in line to the succession.

Although Prince Ui Sung had a head start through hints thanks to his mother, Royal Consort Hwang, and the palace's Hwang Won Hyung, he knew the possible questions that might be included in the exam.

Queen Im Hwa Ryung Protects Sons at All Cost

One of the highlights in "Under the Queen's Umbrella" episode 3 is Queen In Hwa Ryung's action to guard his family.

Starting off with the Crown Prince, the Queen asked the King's permission to relocate their son away from the palace for his fast recovery.

Up until this time, the King is still clueless about the Crown Prince's deteriorating health.

However, there were rumors circulating inside the palace saying that the crown Prince's health had gone worse.

Another problem concerning Queen In Hwa Ryung is about Grand Prince Gyesong's identity.

Now that Queen Dowager Cho knew about her secret, the royal wanted to tell it to the King herself.

In one scene, Queen Dowager Cho alongside her son visited Grand Prince Gyesong's hideout, where he keeps his secret.

At this point, Queen In Hwa Ryung got the upper hand and was able to burn down the hut, leaving no evidence that would show the grand prince's secret.

The situation left Grand Prince Gyesong heartbroken, but Queen In Hwa Ryung had another plan.

The grand prince had his portrait painted wearing a royal hanbok and donning his mother's hairpin, which was passed on In Hwa Ryung.

"Whenever you want to see your true self, look at that painting," she said to her son.
