Song Joong Ki Reveals Unfortunate Experience While Filming THIS Drama

Song Joong Ki earned his nickname "Big Boss'" in the smashing hit K-drama "Descendants of the Sun." In a recent TV appearance, however, the Hallyu superstar shared his unfortunate experience while filming the project. 

Song Joong Ki Talks About Friendship With Former Stuntman Yoon Ki Hyun

Song Joong Ki made a special guest appearance in the recent episode of tvN's TV show "Super Action," broadcasted on November 27. He participated in the show for his former colleague and now real-life friend Yoon Ki Hyun.

To recall, Yoon Ki Hyun was his body double in the high-rated series "Descendants of the Sun" in 2016. In the interview, Song Joong Ki revealed the injury he got while filming the drama.

According to the "Space Sweepers" star, there were certain parts in the project that he couldn't act all by himself, no matter how hard he tried. And most of those include car chases, martial arts, and several kinds of action stunts.

Regarding his friend and former stuntman Yoon Ki Hyun, Song Joong Ki praised his professional skills in doing hard stunts. He added that most times, stunt performers would make a move according to their normal speed, and video editors will fast forward the specific scene so it looks as if they're doing their move quickly.

The actor added that Yoon Ki Hyun's techniques were already in fast motion and that there was no need for the video editors to adjust it and put it as is on the final cut.

Song Joong Ki Thanks Yoon Ki Hyun For Helping Him 

While talking about the popular drama, Song Joong Ki also mentioned the unfortunate experience he had at that time and how Yoon Ki Hyun helped him with his role.

"While I was doing an action scene, I got injured and couldn't even walk. But Ki Hyun portrayed my role well back then. I felt apologetic. If it was not for him, I wouldn't have been able to finish filming 'Descendants of the Sun.'"

Song Joong Ki added that after he worked with Yoon Ki Hyun, they immediately established a close bond.

In 2016, while the drama was on its reign, it was revealed that Song Joong Ki had torn knee ligaments and fractured his wrist due to heavy stunts in the drama. Hence, the actor managed to complete all filmings with fighting spirit, even though he was wearing a cast.

On the other hand, Song Joong Ki currently stars in the revenge drama "Reborn Rich," which airs from Friday to Sunday on JTBC. It is his drama comeback following the dark-comedy series "Vincenzo" in 2021.
