At a press conference held May 26 in Seoul's Guro-gu district, actress Shin Ye-eun opened up about her role in the upcoming ENA medical romance drama "Doctor on the Edge" and her working relationship with co-star Lee Jae-wook.

"Doctor on the Edge," premiering June 1 at 10 p.m. on ENA and available on KT Genie TV and Disney+, centers on Do Ji-eun (Lee Jae-wook), a public health doctor assigned to the infamous island of Pyeondongdo, and Yuk Ha-ri (Shin Ye-eun), a nurse harboring secrets. The drama is based on the popular webtoon "Jonbeo Doctor" by Kim Tae-pung, per The Chosun Daily.
Shin Ye-eun described her character, Yuk Ha-ri, as a bold yet compassionate nurse who returns to her hometown and faces emotional struggles while hiding a secret wound.
"I think the lovable aspects are very similar to me. She is a nosy character who is the first to step forward if someone is trapped in pain," Shin said. She praised director Lee Myung-woo's guidance, sharing that he encouraged her to "just be yourself" in portraying Ha-ri, helping her deliver a natural performance.

The actress also touched on her chemistry with Lee Jae-wook, who is the same age as her.
"I thought we would meet at some point and and I have watched many of his works, I thought that as fellow peers joining the cast, we would create a comfortable energy together, but because we are the same age, I treated him with even more caution. This is because getting too close could interfere with the production. Too much familiarity might affect the production atmosphere," she said as reported by DAUM.
Lee Jae-wook is known for his roles in various dramas and is currently serving in the military but sent a video greeting at the press event, expressing his enjoyment working with Shin.
Produced by The Studio M and scripted by Kim Ji-soo, "Doctor on the Edge" promises a unique blend of humor and emotional depth under director Lee Myung-woo, known for works like "Better Days" and "The Fiery Priest."
With anticipation building, audiences look forward to the heartfelt storytelling and dynamic performances that "Doctor on the Edge" aims to deliver.
