Hong Kyung Shares Honest Thoughts On Playing The Villain in ‘Weak Hero Class 1’
A month after its release, "Weak Hero Class 1" remains as the most streamed work among other OTT dramas. The drama didn't only deliver a worthwhile watching experience, but it also raised awareness about school violence and bullying.

Hong Kyung Shares Honest Thoughts on 'Weak Hero Class 1'
"Weak Hero Class 1" continues to be one of the most watched series among new releases, dominating the entire entertainment scene!
The series stars Park Ji Hoon, Choi Hyun Wook and Hong Kyung, and it tells the story of a student who uses his critical thinking skills to take down the bad guys inside and outside of school.
Park Ji Hoon portrayed Yeon Si Eun, a high school student who looks weak but has an impressive intelligence.
Meanwhile, Hong Kyung played the role of an anti-hero as he became the drama's main villain after breaking his friendship with Park Ji Hoon and Choi Hyun Wook.
Like Park Ji Hoon and Choi Hyun Wook, Hong Kyung also stole the show for his gripping performance, and gained a solid fan base in both the domestic and international scene.
Hong Kyung portrayed a difficult character, which polarized the viewers during its broadcast. While some were angered with how his character turned out, many still sympathized with him.

Admittedly, the young star couldn't let go of the work even after its release. Hong Kyung's character, Oh Bum Seok, is an unpredictable teen who craves affection due to the serious maltreatment he experiences at the hands of his adoptive father.
When asked about his preparations, Hong Kyung shared that he focused on the young boy's emotions more than the body language.
Since Oh Bum Seok doesn't appear as mean and villainous outside, Hong Kyung showed how intense his character's emotions are through his microexpressions.
"I want the viewers to see Oh Bum Seok, find his faults and understand him on their own," Hong Kyung stated. "The drama is a work I will cherish for a long time. It's a work that will remind me to do my best every moment."

While "Weak Hero Class 1" is a work that is driven by school violence and fighting, it mainly focuses on friendship that showcased thought-evoking scenes.
It also introduced Park Ji Hoon, Choi Hyun Wook and Hong Kyung-who are building their filmographies-in a different light, thanks to the director's supervision and intricate directing skills.
Director Yoo Soo Min captured the emotions of the characters that tug at the viewers' hearts, which gives a resonating feeling to the public.
