Hyun Bin continues to stun viewers with his back-to-back movie as Hallyu's top star headlines the upcoming film "The Point Men."

The South Korean heartthrob will be teaming up with award-winning actor Hwang Jung Min as they play an NIS agent and diplomat in the action drama movie. 

Ahead of the movie's theatrical release, Director Im Soon Rye, who also helmed "The Whistleblower" and "Little Forest," spoke about the preparation of "The Point Men."

'The Point Men' Director Reveals Struggles Filming in Jordan 

In the interview, Director Im Soon Rye shared that the team initially planned to shoot in Afghanistan but due to safety and because of the pandemic they ended up filming in Jordan. 

However, for "The Point Men" the director revealed that the production team proceeded with filming in Korea first, especially with indoor scenes, and eventually proceeded with a two-track strategy of promoting entry into Jordan. 

"Finally, the Jordanian government granted entry to Jordan as an exception only for the Korean 'The Point Men' filming team," the director revealed adding that they went through many difficulties in the foreign country. 

"Such as the quarantine period due to the corona, food procurement, prop procurement, and special effects," "The Point Men" Director Im Soon Rye shared.

Interestingly, it also came to the point the director and award-winning star Hwang Jung Min played a big role during behind-the-scenes.  

Im Soon Rye says that he and the lead star "prepared and served food to the actors and staff suffering from homesickness of taste."

At the time, the team had a crew of 300 people including the actors and staff. 

'The Point Ment' Release Date and Cast

Based on a true story, Hyun Bin took the role of NIS agent Park Dae Si, who specializes in the Middle East and Central Asia missions. 

Due to an unexpected incident in Iraq, he is thinking about quitting his job but gets connected with a diplomat named Jung Jae Ho, played by Hwang Jung Min.

Viewers will get to see Hyun Bin and Hwang Jung Min's chemistry as well as their transformation playing South Korean diplomat and NIS agent. 

For the top star, Hyun Bin tried to highlight his character's pain due to his "past traumas, the urgency of the operation, and his rough background in layers to make it more appealing."

Besides Hyun Bin and Hwang Jung Min, a slew of outstanding actors complete the cast lineup. 

"Extraordinary Attorney Woo" star Kang Ki Young will be joining as one of the lead stars. Meanwhile, Jeon Sung Woo and Lee Seung Chul will be the supporting cast. 

The upcoming action drama film is scheduled to hit theaters on January 18, 2022.
