"Our Blooming Youth" lead star Jeon So Nee is getting criticized for her performance in the historical rom-com series, where she starred alongside Park Hyung Sik. 

Apart from her portrayal of Lady Min Jae Yi, others also speculated that the plummeting viewership was also because of the character, and storyline. 

Released on February 6, "Our Blooming Youth" is based on the novel " "The Golden Hairpin" helmed by Lee Jong Jae of "Korean Peninsula," "The Virus," "100 Days My Prince" and "Psychopath Diary."

Prior to the broadcast of the drama's pilot episode, viewers are looking forward to the new team-up between Jeon So Nee and Park Hyung Sik; however, viewership and the public's interest have dropped.

"Our Blooming Youth" is one of the 2023 K-dramas that kicked off with a promising start. 

After garnering an average nationwide rating of 4.219 percent, Nielsen Korea cited that viewership continue to decrease after the first broadcast. 

From 4.2 percent, "Our Blooming Youth" ratings fell to 3.374 percent for its sixth episode. 

According to a media outlet, the viewers think that Jeon So Nee's role was not suitable for her. 

Moreover, others also pointed out that she is not flexible enough for the character and didn't exude a strong personality like what her role is trying to give off. 

In "Our Blooming Youth" the 31-year-old beauty played Min Jae Yi, who came from a wealthy family and is engaged to Sergeant Han Sung On, a son of a powerful State Councillor, and a close friend to Crown Prince Yi Hwan, played by Park Hyung Sik.

Unfortunately, she gets caught up in a conspiracy after she was accused of murdering her own family. 

However, it appears like some of the viewers were not convinced of how she plays the role, pointing out that she is not deemed to play the dual role. 

The 31-year-old actress is not new in K-dramaland. Jeon So Nee has appeared in several notable series which includes "When My Love Blooms" in 2020 alongside Park Jin Young, as well as the rom-com fantasy series "Scripting Your Destiny" together with Ki Do Hoon and Kim Woo Seok. 

Is the Storyline Among the Reason Behind the Declining Rating of 'Our Blooming Youth' 

While others see Jeon So Nee's acting as not suitable for her character, some believe that the storyline played a huge part in decreasing viewership in "Our Blooming Youth."

As mentioned in the same outlet, viewers also raised issues with how the script was written for the historical K-drama. 

Although it is based on a novel, the public says that it lacks an interesting plot and also questioned why the director made it into 20- episodes. 

Since "Our Blooming Youth" is far from the second half of the season, others are hoping that the drama would deliver engaging and fascinating scenes in the coming episodes.
