‘Dr Romantic 3’ Kicks Off With Double Digit Rating + Doldam Hospital Meets New Villain
After 3 years of patiently waiting, viewers get to finally see the reunion of the Doldam Hospital family as "Dr. Romantic 3" releases its pilot episode.
Headlined by Han Suk Kyu along with the returning lead stars Lee Sung Kyung, Ahn Hyo Seop, and Kim Joo Heon, the medical K-drama made a massive comeback after garnering a double digit viewership during its premiere.
'Dr. Romantic 3' Viewership
The much awaited season of the SBS series kicked off with an impressive rating.
As obtained by a media outlet, "Dr. Romantic 3" episode 1, had an average nationwide rating of 12.7 percent. With this, the medical K-drama lands as the most-watched program for the day.
In addition to its successful premiere, the 16-part episode K-drama received the second-highest premiere ratings of any Friday-Saturday drama slot in SBS history. "Dr. Romantic 3" is next to "The Penthouse 2," which scored 16.7 percent on its first broadcast.
'Dr. Romantic 3' Episode 1 Recap
The staff of the Doldam Hospital received a call about a ship on board with wounded North Korean defectors.
Military doctor Lee Seon Wung is expecting the arrival of doctors from South Korea; however, until then, he needs to perform the necessary steps in order to prolong the life of the patient.

Thankfully, Seo Woo Jin together with Murse Park Eun Tak and ER doctor Jung In Soo, boarded the ship to save the critical patient.
On the other hand, Cha Eun Jae and rookie doctor Jang Dong Hwa are looking for Kim Sa Bu, who is on vacation.
Fortunately, after going into the woods, the two managed to locate the senior doctor and convince him to join Seo Woo Jin at the ship.
Meanwhile, Seo Woo Jin and the group were struggling to continue with the surgery since the vessel lacks medical equipment, and despite Kim Sa Bu performing a surgery, the patient needs to be transferred to a hospital as early as possible.
However, since South and North Korea are still undergoing peace talks, they managed to convince the captain to keep things under wraps and transfer them to Doldam Hospital's trauma center.
In the last scene, Dr. Park Min Guk came with a new visitor, whom he offered to be part of the hospital.
However, Cha Jin Man, a sought after surgeon, wants to see the trauma center first. Little did they know that Kim Sa Bu and his team were keeping a high profile secret.
Upon meeting the visitor, Kim Sa Bu expressed apprehension towards Dr. Cha, especially after he ignored his handshake.
"Dr. Romantic 3" episode 1, wrapped up the pilot episode with a shocking revelation. Dr. Cha Jin Man was Cha Eun Jae's father, raising anticipation for the upcoming episode.
