Apart from the series, Goo Hye Sun's popularity rose due to her undeniable visuals, known as ulzzang beauty.

Years later, she has decided to stay out of the spotlight and focus on activities behind the camera, like directing.

However, in her recent interview uploaded on a YouTube channel, she spoke about the downside of popularity and the misconception of people towards her.

On the other hand, during the height of her fame, she mentioned that the popularity "felt good at the time" and thinks that its "fun" how people would recognize her.

Due to the massive success of "Boys Over Flowers," Goo Hye Sun also shared that it is a turning point in her life; unfortunately, her popularity comes with a price.

"I gathered more haters as I got more famous," she revealed, adding, "There were a lot of rumors, too. In my twenties, I was both successful and miserable."

Why Goo Hye Sun Focused More on Directing Than Acting

In 2019, Goo Hye Sun revealed that she was taking time off from acting to focus on continuing her studies.

This is also the time when she is experiencing marriage fallout with her husband and "Blood" co-star Ahn Jae Hyun.

She returned to Sungkyunkwan University School of Art after putting her school on pause in 2011 to give way to her career.

As the interview continues, Goo Hye Sun says she explored the world of directing and painting for specific reasons.

For her, it's her way of expressing her emotions, and she says that she is "still in the process of finding her identity."

Apart from her achievements as an actress, the 38-year-old beauty signed with Mimi Entertainment in 2021.

In the same year, she also launched "Dark Yellow," directed by herself and produced in partnership with Wadiz.

In addition, she also owned a production company called Goo Hye Sun Film.
