Son Seok Koo turned down the offer for the K-drama "Can You Translate This Love?" directed by the Hong Sisters.

Here's Why Son Seok Koo Turned Down 'Can You Translate This Love?'

After playing the villain role in Ma Dong Seok's blockbuster movie "The Roundup" and headlining the action crime series "Big Bet," the versatile star was chosen to portray the main lead in the upcoming romance drama.

In an exclusive report cited by SpoTV News, Son Seok Koo decided not to appear in the new work of the Hong Sisters, "Can You Translate This Love."

To recall, the award-winning star was offered to play the role of Joo Ho Jin, a multilingual interpreter who could speak English, Spanish, and Japanese. The plot thickens after he falls in love with the top-notch actress.

Back in April, his agency, SBD Entertainment, confirmed that the actor received the offer to join the series "and was currently in talks with a favorable outlook."

However, months after formally receiving the offer, Son Seok Koo declined to headline the romance drama.

As mentioned by the media outlet, he chose to refuse the offer "due to personal circumstances."

The upcoming K-drama "Can You Translate This Love?" depicts the story of an interpreter who meets a top star with whom he works with during her overseas tour. Little by little, they get closer after talking about life and love. Unfortuantely, things feel apart after their intentions get lost in translation.

The forthcoming romance series "Can You Translate This Love?" is penned by the renowned Hong Sisters, the genius duo behind "Hotel Del Luna," "You're Beautiful," "My Girlfriend is a Gumiho," "Alchemy of Souls," and more.

The series was supposed to be among Son Seon Koo's long list of upcoming projects in the months to come.

Son Seok Koo to Reprise Role in 'D.P. 2'

One of Son Seok Koo's new dramas this 2023 is the Netflix original series "D.P. 2." He will make a comeback as First Lieutenant Im Ji Seop, an elite graduate of the Korea Military Academy.

Joining him as this season's lead stars are Jung Hae In as private soldier Ahn Joon Ho and Corporal Han Ho Yul, played by Goo Kyo Hwan, who are both members of the D.P. team.

Adding to the list of returning cast members is Sergeant Park Beom Gu, portrayed by Kim Sung Kyun, who is the superior of Ahn Joon Ho and Han Ho Yul.

Interestingly, viewers will get to see new characters through Ji Jin Hee and Kim Ji Hyun.

Ji Jin Hee took on the role of head of the legal department at the Army Headquarters, Goo Ja Woon, while Kim Ji Hyun portrays the chief operations officer of the Ministry of National Defense Prosecutor's Office, Lieutenant Colonel Seo Eun.
