Shin Se Kyung Reveals Cons of Starring in Historical K-Drama

Flaunting her effortless beauty, she sat at the makeup chair as the staff finished her whole look. Shin Se Kyung boldly answered random questions about her, from what it's like to be in a period drama and more.

She made her debut in 2004 after portraying the young Kim Hyun Joo in SBS' "Land." Shin Se Kyung managed to land notable K-dramas, and most of them are historical series.

According to the actress, she only got her pierced once but decided not to have it because of her projects.

Recalling it as her "first and last experience," Shin Se Kyung said that the reason she didn't get pierced was her work, particularly being in a period drama.

"Because right after getting a piercing, I started to shoot a drama, and it was a semi-historical drama," she said, explaining why she wasn't allowed to have her ears pierced. "A historical character can't be wearing piercings, so I had to take it off, and my hole closed."

Following the K-drama, she continued to star in another sageuk and had "simply no time to get a piercing." Because of her continued projects, Shin Se Kyung said she doesn't "think I'll ever get to have one."

Among her first period dramas is the 2009 series "Queen Seon Duk," where she played as the teenage Princess Chun Myung.

As tvN gears for the highly-anticipated return of the historical-fantasy K-drama, the network teases fans with a sneak peek of "Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramoon."

Set 10 years after Season 1, it showcases the battle between Tagon and the Ago tribe leader Eun Seom.

Shin Se Kyung and Lee Joon Gi's new drama is slated to hit the small screen on September 9.

"Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramoon" will air on tvN and Disney+ for global viewers.
