Will ‘7 Escape’ Surpass the Popularity of ‘The Penthouse’? Writer Kim Soon Ok Answers

"The Penthouse" writer Kim Soon Ok introduces a new K-drama that will surely pique the interest of viewers. The upcoming series "7 Escape" boasts a star-studded cast, from veteran to rookie actors.

As SBS dropped the show's first trailer, viewers compared it to the writer's previous work, "The Penthouse: War in Life," which gained huge attention and, not to mention, scored numerous achievements.

The award-winning writer dished on her thoughts about the upcoming series and what viewers should expect in "7 Escape."

Will '7 Escape' Have the Same Premise as 'The Penthouse'?

As mentioned by a news outlet, writer Kim Soon Ok acknowledges that her former K-drama "The Penthouse" received mixed reactions as it centers around murder and revenge.

In response, she explained that it is a part of "extreme human emotions." However, she did acknowledge that some viewers might find it uncomfortable to watch.

"There were inevitable cruel scenes, and although they said they were suppressed, I was very concerned because it might have been uncomfortable to watch."

But despite the audience's reaction, there's no doubt that "The Penthouse" trilogy is a true masterpiece.

Speaking of her past works, viewers think that "7 Escape" might have the same story as "The Penthouse." For one, the upcoming K-drama features familiar faces as some of the cast members appeared in "The Penthouse."

As cited by the outlet, the production team behind the upcoming series said that the soon-to-be released K-drama focuses on "a villain who does not hide his desire." Moreover, it also depicts "the brutal and exhilarating survival game of multiple designers that unfolds spectacularly."

Interestingly, officials also noted that "7 Escape" has the same season system as "The Penthouse," hinting that it might continue with another sequel.

'7 Escape' Cast, Release Date

As mentioned, the upcoming series focuses on the villain with vicious evil desires. 

"7 Escape" tells the story of seven individuals who get caught up in the mysterious disappearance of a young girl.

As they attempt to escape their fate and pursue the truth, they find themselves embroiled in secrets, lies, and desires in this retribution tale.

As they try to break away from the situation, they find themselves trapped in the secrets and lies that surround the incident.

Directed by Joo Dong Min of "The Penthouse" trilogy, "7 Escape" cast includes Uhm Ki Joon, Shin Eun Kyung, and Yoon Jong Hoon as the main leads, known for their roles in "The Penthouse."

In addition, Hwang Jung Eum, Lee Joon, Lee Yoo Bi, and more join as the main characters.

"7 Escape" release date is set for September 15 and will air on SBS.
