Following its skyrocketing success, Go Hyun Jung talked about her honest feelings regarding the revenge drama.

Go Hyun Jung Reveals Reason for Choosing 'Mask Girl'

On August 25, Go Hyun Jung bared her heart and talked about her career in an interview.

The legendary actress spoke about her brand new revenge series "Mask Girl" and her honest thoughts about it.

"Mask Girl" marks Go Hyun Jung's comeback drama after two years of inactivity in the limelight. In the work, she transformed into Kim Mo Mi alongside Nana and Lee Han Byul.

Kim Mo Mi is an office worker who lives a liberated life as a masked broadcast jockey offering adult entertainment. However, her perfect life crumbles after being involved in a murder case.

Through the life of Kim Mo Mi, Go Hyun Jung also freely unfolded her own story as she found comfort in her character who meets her daughter for the first time after living apart from her.

To recall, Go Hyun Jung lost the custody of her children to her ex-husband who's a conglomerate heir of Shinsegae Group and grandson of the Samsung empire.

Besides finding similarities with Kim Mo Mi, Go Hyun Jung chose to appear in the work as it poses a realistic perspective about life.

She also reasoned, "I've gone through my teens and my 40s. Now that I'm in my 50s, I want to portray a character around my age who possesses maturity."

Go Hyun Jung Shares Most Memorable Scene In 'Mask Girl'

"Mask Girl" was well-received by the public all thanks to its beautiful portrayal of womanhood.

Another theme of the work is the maternal love of the key characters. For Go Hyun Jung, the moment where she reunites with her character's daughter is the most memorable for her.

She revealed that she was involved with how her character should be portrayed. Go Hyun Jung made sure to look as realistic as possible.

"I decided not to say anything as Kim Mo Mi," she revealed. "She's a tough character so I thought she wouldn't quickly immerse herself in her own emotions before making sure they're already safe."

Go Hyun Jung had a sense of purpose with "Mask Girl," which is mirrored in her top-notch transformation into Kim Mo Mi.

Go Hyun Jung Praises Ahn Jae Hong's Performance

After the production wrapped up, Go Hyun Jung felt a bit of regret after saying goodbye to her character.

Through Kim Mo Mi, she did extreme things that she didn't before such as crashing into a car. Despite the great response from the crew and her fans, she still feels she hasn't done enough.

Go Hyun Jung revealed that she felt envious of Ahn Jae Hong's seamless transformation into Joo Oh Nam. The actor even used a balding wig to give life to his creepy character.

"I should have "overdone" something, maybe exaggerated my lips or my plastic surgery," Go Hyun Jung stated with regret.

She then praised Ahn Jae Hong's flawless performance and his innate ability to immerse himself in his roles. Go Hyun Jung then takes this as an inspiration for her next acting project.
