Lee Joon Gi admits falling into the celebrity disease trap after starring in his breakthrough K-drama.

The South Korean superstar looked back at his experience during his early years in the industry. During his appearance on tvN's "You Quiz on the Block," the actor went honest about having the condition.

Lee Joon Gi Says Celebrity Disease Almost Caused Him to 'Give Up' His Acting Career

Before becoming one of today's sought-after stars, Lee Joon Gi rose after headlining the 2005 movie "The King and the Clown".

At the time, it was his first-ever lead role on the big screen. Following the success of the film, the then-rising star was often regarded as a "flower boy" icon.

Almost two decades later, Lee Joon Gi looked back and got honest about the things he regretted during that period.

"Nowadays, a hit work would be replaced within 3-6 months. At that time, 'The King and the Clown' did well, and I mistakenly thought that the world centered around me," the top star admitted.

As obtained by a media outlet, Lee Joon Gi was thankful that he had "already escaped from those things."

Moreover, the actor also mentioned how the people around him helped him realize his flaws and correct them before it was too late.

"They told me straightforwardly that if I continued living like that, I might have to give up my acting career," he said, adding that it would be devastating and "would cause trouble to many people" if he did not change.

Furthermore, Lee Joon Gi spoke about his realizations in his career and shared that he "could have lost everything in an instant" if it weren't for the people around him, and also himself for acknowledging the bad trait that he had developed.

"It wouldn't matter if I lost my career alone, but I believed that people who gave me opportunities would suffer damage," he said, adding that at the time, he was scared; hence, he felt the "urgent need" to change himself if he wanted to continue his career.

Thankfully, Lee Joon Gi was able to turn things around and escape falling deep into the celebrity disease trap.

After his breakthrough performance in "The King and the Clown," Lee Joon Gi was able to establish his name in the industry through a slew of notable K-dramas and movies, such as "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo," "Criminal Minds," "Flower of Evil," and "Again My Life."

In addition to this, Lee Joon Gi will headline the highly-anticipated sequel, "Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramun." The soon-to-be released K-drama will air on September 9 with Shin Se Kyung as a co-star.
