Kang Ki Young Reveals Struggles With Villainous Role

Days after closing the curtains of "The Uncanny Counter 2," scene-stealer Kang Ki Young shared his honest feelings about the show and his acting role.

In the series, the actor transformed into Hwang Pil Gwang, the apex villain that is the biggest enemy of the Counters played by Jo Byung Gyu, Kim Sejeong and more.

Although he only participated in Season 2, he became one of the most influential characters throughout the show.

Kang Ki Young presented an unmatched transformation that erased his "goofy image" in his previous works like "Extraordinary Attorney Woo."

Taking on the challenge was a big hurdle but according to the actor, he didn't have any regrets as he gave nothing but his best.

He revealed that he lost 10 kg in four months, maintaining only 5% body fat. Kang Ki Young also strengthened his core to achieve the sharp appearance as a villain.

Thankfully, he was able to pull it off despite the stress that came with the intense pressure to deliver a great performance.

Kang Ki Young Shares Future Acting Plans

Kang Ki Young didn't only capture the viewers' attention but also his colleagues' hearts. Joo Jong Hyuk whom he worked with in "Extraordinary Attorney Woo" religiously watched "The Uncanny Counter 2" to show his support.

He even complimented Kang Ki Young's jaw-dropping transformation, calling him a "sexy star." Because of this, he believes that he can do more roles and slowly depart from his "comical and goofy" image as an actor.

Kang Ki Young revealed that he wants to take on the romance genre. After playing supporting roles for years, it would be interesting to see him in the main ensemble as a male lead.

"I want to participate in a drama that can bring deep emotions," he stated. "I want to immerse myself in melodramas."

In addition, the actor also wants to join action-filled works as well as exciting variety programs in the future.

As for his dream collaboration, Kang Ki Young chooses internationally acclaimed stars Ma Dong Seok and Lee Joon Gi as the actors he wants to work with in his upcoming projects.
