Rowoon expressed his feelings about doing another historical K-drama, and revealed the reason for choosing "The Matchmakers" as his comeback.

Rowoon Challenges Himself to Do Comedy Genre Through 'The Matchmakers'

KBS's new weekday drama "The Matchmakers" is set in the backdrop of Joseon and follows the story of young widower Shim Jung Woo and young widow Jung Soon Deok, who are challenged to match single people to their special person.

Rowoon is creating a buzz by challenging the most unconventional comic acting by portraying the role of Jung Shim Woo, a principled Confucian boy with a lot of power. Based on his solid acting skills, the actor shines a more upgraded three-dimensional expression, heralding the birth of a new historical drama.

In regard to this, the heartthrob revealed the reason for choosing this project, "I wanted to challenge myself in the comedy genre."

He continued, "I actually think comedy is the most difficult genre. It was a genre that I wanted to try," leaving his determination to try comic acting for the first time.

Rowoon Talks About New Historical-Comedy Series

In particular, Rowoon is about to return to KBS after the success of "The King's Affection." According to the young star, he has the desire to look different as his character and situation are different from his previous historical series.

He added that since he already had experience working in the historical genre, it was easier for him to adjust while filming.

The "Destined With You" star also mentioned that he is honored to work for the first time with Cho Yi Hyun. He had a good experience on their first meeting at the script reading and now that they are still in the middle of filming, the actor revealed that he is still having fun filming, raising curiosity about the fresh chemistry that the two will bring on screen.

Rowoon admitted that his new role is very different from his in real life. Despite being opposite, the male star continues to do his best to bring Shim Jung Woo to life.

Meanwhile, the production team shared that Rowoon, who trained and let go of the person he was from the first-period drama, is expected to complete another cross-wall character through "The Matchmakers" to shake the small screen.

They asked the viewers and fans to look forward to the actor's first comic melodrama, which is prepared with a firm determination.

'The Matchmakers' to Premiere This October

Catch Rowoon's debut in the comedy genre beginning October 30 on KBS. New episodes will be released every Monday and Tuesday.

In the meantime, watch the last two episodes of Rowoon's fantasy-romance series "Destined With You," which is about to conclude on October 12.
