Lee Jun Young Nervous of Playing Villain Role in 'Brave Citizen'

"Brave Citizen" is about to hit the theaters soon and one of its lead stars Lee Jun Young shared a glimpse of his new character and experiences of working on the project.

In a media interview, Lee Jun Young discussed the challenges he encountered in playing a villain and shared his honest thoughts. To give a little background, the idol-actor is about to portray the role of a school bully in "Brave Citizen."

According to the Korean star, he was a bit nervous when he had to portray an antagonist because viewers had high expectations of him.

"For this movie, I really worked hard to make the character distinct from my past ones. But I am not sure if all the effort I put in will come through in the final edit."

In regards to his character Han Su Gang, he commented, "I wanted to make it clear that there's no excuse for doing bad things. Playing this role was a constant struggle."

Lee Jun Young kept on asking himself if he could really bring the character to life. Luckily, the director of the film gave him great advice on how to approach the character while filming the project.

K-Star Admits That Filming 'Brave Citizen' Was Emotionally Draining

As he continued to discuss the movie, the "Imitation" star mentioned that it includes different brutal bullying scenes. 

"It's emotionally draining to portray roles that demand constant emotional intensity."

Lee Jun Young also looked back on working with Park Jung Woo, who took the role of a bully victim in the movie. The actor revealed that he broke down in the middle of filming the project with Shin Hye Sun.

"I felt sorry for actor Park Jung Woo. After the premiere, I went to him and gave him a big hug without saying anything."

The lead star added, "I found myself tearing up right in the middle of shooting 'Brave Citizen,' and even after we wrapped up, I couldn't shake this feeling of uneasiness."

As soon as the production concluded, Lee Jun Young said that since the movie was emotionally draining, he had to protect his mental health and enjoy the little things like hugging his pet and working out. He even used the punching bag to refresh himself and release his emotions. 

Meanwhile, "Brave Citizen" is coming to cinemas this October 25.
