‘Doctor Slump’ Episode 1: Park Shin Hye & Park Hyung Sik Face Crisis in Their Careers

Yeo Jung Woo (Park Hyung Sik) and Nam Ha Neul (Park Shin Hye) faced big crisis in their respective careers that changes the trajectory of their lives in "Doctor Slump" Episode 1. 

'Doctor Slump' Episode 1: Nam Ha Neul Meets Her School Rival Yeo Jung Woo

JTBC's newest drama "Doctor Slump" premiered and delivered an interesting narrative to the viewers. 

At the beginning of the series, Nam Ha Neul, who was from Busan and had a good school ranking, transferred to Seoul in 2009. There, she met Yeo Jung Woo, a bright student who perfected the mock exams.

Since then, they became school rivals. Both of them applied to medical school at Hankuk University, but only Yeo Jung Woo went to pursue it at the university. 

Yeo Jung Woo & Nam Ha Neul Experience Opposite Events in Their Careers

In 2023, Bin Dae Young (Yoon Park) attended the Korean University Medical School Alumni Association and revealed his lack of qualifications for Yeo Jung Woo. He was jealous of Yeo's achievements and criticized him when he arrived late at the event. 

Yeo Jung Woo was a plastic surgeon and a popular influencer with over 1 million subscribers. He even earned everyone's respect by donating all his YouTube profits and consistently volunteering at shelters.

Meanwhile, Nam Ha Neul spent her days getting scolded by her professor and performing surgeries all night long.

Due to overwork, she collapsed in the middle of the street and almost got into an accident. She ended up in a gallbladder removal surgery.

Yeo Jung Woo Faces Crisis in His Career After Failing Surgery

Yeo Jung Woo, who was enthusiastically welcomed by nurses as he went to work at the hospital, performed the surgery skillfully as usual. However, while he was performing surgery on a patient, the patient's bleeding did not stop. He later on stopped the surgery and continued cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Unfortunately, the patient died. 

Even though he claimed to the police that there were no problems with the surgery, news reported that a patient died from excessive bleeding during the surgery he performed. 

Making it worse, it was revealed that CCTV was not in operation only during the surgery, and he was put on trial on charges of professional negligence manslaughter. The deceased patient was later on identified as Macau's casino heiress. 

Yeo Jung Woo faced the crisis and paid 10 billion won for the damages. 

Nam Ha Neul Diagnosed With Depression

Nam Ha Neul, on the other hand, resumed her daily life after her surgery. She visited a psychiatrist due to a trauma she experienced at the crosswalk. She was then diagnosed with depression.

The doctor recommended medication, but she refused to believe that she was depressed. 

While on her way home, unexpectedly, she encountered Yeo Jung Woo on the rooftop of her home. The moment they saw each other again, they recalled their school days and were shocked to see each other again after 14 years.
