Uhm Jung Hwa Shares Thoughts on Marriage

Known for her impeccable and noteworthy performances, veteran star and singer-actress Uhm Jung Hwa made her appearance on Lee So Ra's YouTube variety program "Supermarket So Ra."

The two are said to be colleagues and real-life friends.

In the episode that aired on February 14, the host asked the actress about marriage.

"Why aren't you getting married? Is it that you have no desire to get married at all?"

In response, Uhm Jung Hwa said that she had actually never once felt the need to get married. Then, the actress asked her friend how she would react if she were to tell her that she was going to get married.

Lee So Ra responded:

"Yes, I think so. I would still be happy for you. Well, considering I am single too. I am just glad you're not jumping into marriage."

As their conversation went on, Uhm Jung Hwa mentioned a story about marriage.

According to her, there were times in her late thirties when she felt frustrated about her age and wanted to work longer and go further with her career. But it felt almost impossible to be part of the industry as a 40-year-old person, and that was when she thought about getting married.

The "Our Blues" star explained that she was with someone back then simply because she thought that she should already get married.

"But even then, I didn't want to get married. It did not feel right. I wanted to push through with my career even though it could be tough."

Uhm Jung Hwa went on:

"Marriage is not my reason for living; I am all about work. It is what keeps me going and brings me happiness. That's why I have never really wanted marriage."

After sharing her thoughts about marriage before, the actress reflected and said:

"I am sure I can get married now and things will still go well with my professional life. Because you know, marriage got in the way of your career a lot in the past."

Nevertheless, she added that she likes the things in her life now, expressing satisfaction with being single.
