Kim Soo Hyun, Kim Ji Won, & Byeon Woo Seok — K-Drama Stars With Idol-Worthy Popularity Syndrome

Three of the hottest K-stars today - Kim Soo Hyun, Kim Ji Won, and Byeon Woo Seok - are experiencing the idol-worthy popularity syndrome following the release of their respective dramas.

After "Queen of Tears" and "Lovely Runner" premiered, all eyes were on its lead stars, who are now experiencing an overwhelming popularity.

Kim Soo Hyun

Kim Soo Hyun, who is already an established actor, is once again facing a surge of fame following the success of his comeback drama "Queen of Tears." As a gift to his avid supporters, he will embark on a fan meeting tour this year.

His agency, Gold Medalist, announced that the actor will have the 2024 Kim Soo Hyun Asia Tour in Japan 'Eyes On You,' scheduled on June 22 and 23.

This upcoming event is said to hold significant meaning for the actor and his fans as it will be their first reunion after almost a decade since the conclusion of Kim Soo Hyun's drama "My Love from the Star."

Due to Kim Soo Hyun's growing popularity, it is safe to say that the fan meeting tour will also happen in various Asian countries in the future.

Kim Ji Won

Kim Soo Hyun's onscreen partner, Kim Ji Won is also experiencing a surge in following after she headlined "Queen of Tears," which broke a record for achieving a viewership rating of 24.9 percent.

The actress also delivered a good news on May 3, announcing her first-ever solo fan meeting in 14 years since her acting debut.

HighZium confirmed that Kim Ji Won's fan meeting in Seoul will happen on June 22. However, it immediately sparked worries as fans complained about the date and the limited capacity of the venue.

According to a source, the event will happen in a small live hall that can only accommodate 400 individuals. Fans are raising their voice to have a change in a larger venue or add another day, for other fans to attend the fan meeting too.

Byeon Woo Seok

Byeon Woo Seok is currently amassing a huge following, thanks to his rom-com series "Lovely Runner." He is receiving warm attention as he plays the role of Ryu Sun Jae, a top star and a vocalist of the K-pop group Eclipse.

He is justifying his increasing fame by being called Sun Jae instead of his real name among fans.

In particular, on May 1, Byeon Woo Seok attended the opening ceremony of the 25th Jeonju International Festival. Since it was his first public event appearance since his drama premiered, a lot of fans came and started calling him 'Sun Jae.'

According to a source, the venue had to be changed due to his overwhelming popularity. On May 4, the actor participated in JIFF's event, and the organizers already anticipated the large number of fans and changed the location.

However, they had to briskly change the ticket distribution, time, venue, and operation method again due to confusion, as fans lined up overnight to see him up close.

As they dominate K-entertainment, it is no exaggeration that these three K-drama stars developed an idol-worthy popularity syndrome. From fans staying up all night to wait for their favorite stars, fiercely competing for tickets, and attending events, to meeting fans through fan meetings used to be a common culture among K-pop idol fans, but now expanding to K-actors as well.
