Five Fun Facts About Sulli

It's a triple-score year for actress and singer Sulli. As a member of the girl group f(x) she is currently enjoying the success of their single "Rum Pum Pum Pum." She plays Heuk Myo, a pirate aboard Son Ye Jin's ship in the film "The Pirates" and was recently cast as Joo Won's love interest in the webtoon-inspired movie "Fashion King."

"The Pirates" is her first film role since the 2008 film "Babo" but she has had several drama roles, most recently "To The Beautiful You," which she appeared in with SHINee's Choi Minho.

Here are some more facts you may not know about the actress.

1. Although many may know her as a singer she actually debuted as a child actress. She had her first role at 11, playing Princess Sun Hwa in "The Ballad of Seo Dong." She had a cameo in "Love Needs A Miracle" and then played the childhood love of Park Yoochun in drama "Vacation." In 2007 she had roles in "Punch Lady" and "The Flower Girl Is Here." After "To The Beautiful You," in which she played a girl pretending to be a boy at an all-boys school, she wanted to try unusual roles.

"I would like to try the role of a character that has a definite impact, even if it's not a major part," said Sulli.

2. For her role in "To The Beautiful You," she studied the style of Yoon Eun Hye in "Coffee Prince" and Park Shin Hye in "You Are Beautiful."

"I enjoyed watching both 'Coffee Prince' and 'You Are Beautiful," and truthfully I even thought that the roles of Go Eun Chan and Go Minam would suit me well," she sad.

The hardest part of that role was cutting her long hair but the character had to look like she would fit in at an all-boys school.

"Some people think of me as a sweet kid but I can be quite gruff and I have a somewhat masculine side, she said.

3. When Sulli looks at a sad or crying person she can't help but cry. The scene she remembers best in "To The Beautiful You" is the scene where she hugged Minho's character Kang Tae Joon.

"Both of us cried really hard," she said.  "We were overwhelmed with emotion. When I looked at Tae Joon crying I could not help but cry too."

4. Sulli is known to be a very positive person.

"I try to avoid thinking about bad things," said Sulli. "Even if bad things happen I try to see it as a rite of passage, an experience that may be helpful to me later.

She is also very careful about who she spends time with

"Because I am affected by the people around me and start to resemble them, I have to avoid people who are unconditionally negative."

5. She has been seen holding hands with Dynamic Duo's Choiza but the two insist they are just friends.

According to SM Entertainment, they are more like brother and sister. They are not dating but meet often.

When asked what her ideal type was, Sulli once said, "I like dependable men like my dad."
