Netflix has canceled the live broadcast for its upcoming action thriller 'Trigger' due to increased public concern following a fatal shooting involving an illegal firearm in Incheon.

Originally scheduled for July 22, the Naver online live talk show for Trigger is no longer happening, Netflix confirmed to Dispatch on Sunday.

"We have decided to cancel the Naver live broadcast of the Trigger talk show that was scheduled for the 22nd," a Netflix representative said.

"However, we will proceed with the offline event with fans who applied."

Trigger is a disaster-action series set in a fictional South Korea where illegal firearms start circulating in a gun-free society.

The story follows Kim Nam-gil as Lee Do and Kim Young-kwang as Moon Baek, two men caught in the chaos of the mysterious gun epidemic.

The decision to cancel the broadcast came just two days after a real shooting in Incheon shocked the nation.

On July 20, a man in his 60s fatally shot his son with an illegal firearm in an apartment in Songdo.

Authorities arrested the suspect three hours later and found a staggering collection of weapons, including 11 homemade firearms, 86 rounds of ammunition, and 15 explosives. Police reported that the suspect confessed to making the weapons himself.

While the Trigger offline fan event will proceed on July 22 with lead actors Kim Nam-gil and Kim Young-kwang attending, the series is set to premiere on Netflix on July 25.
