Actor Jung Il-woo is returning to the small screen in force, professing his strong love for acting at the press conference for KBS-2TV's new weekend family drama Splendid Days.

""I had a longing for acting. This was a project I risked my life for" Jung Il-woo explained at the production ceremony held at The Saint in D-Cube City in Sindorim, Seoul, on August 6.
The drama is Jung's return to KBS after 16 years and his first major role on television in three years since Good Job in 2022. His return is being eagerly anticipated by viewers and industry people alike.
In Splendid Days, Jung acts as Lee Ji-hyeok, a realistic and emotionally nuanced eldest son who walks a tightrope between reality and ideals.
"I play the role of the eldest son, and I am the eldest son in real life. I thought a lot about my relationship with my father," he explained.
"Thanks to senior Cheon Ho-jin's advice, I was able to portray the character in a three-dimensional way."
The family drama, which realistically addresses intergenerational conflict, has a solid creative team behind it.
It brings back director Kim Hyung-seok and writer So Hyun-kyung, the team that created the smash My Golden Life, which reached viewership ratings of up to 45.1%.
"This will be a drama that fathers and eldest sons living in this era can understand," director Kim said.
"Rather than peripheral stimulation, I will show you genuine fun and tears."
She joined the cast, with Jung In-sun playing Ji Eun-oh, a strong woman who has loved Ji-hyeok quietly since college days.

"Eun-oh is a woman who knows how to go straight when it comes to dreams and love. She is confident and lively," Jung In-sun stated.
"She is very similar to my real self and personality."
"This is my first weekend drama since my debut," she added.
"I feel more grateful than burdened... I'm putting my life on the line during filming."
The drama will also examine a complicated love triangle involving Ji-hyeok, Eun-oh, and Park Sung-jae (played by Yoon Hyun-min), adding depth to emotional dynamics.
"Actress Jung In-sun has a long career, so she was good at leading the atmosphere," said Jung Il-woo.
"I became close with Hyun-min naturally. He created a humorous scene.

Jung stressed the core of the drama is its emotional core: "Everyone is filming with passion and energy. I hope that energy is well conveyed.
Our drama is a work that allows us to think about the meaning of family once again."
Jung In-sun continued, "When I read the script, I thought it was like the four seasons.
I think viewers are going through their own seasons, so I hope they can empathize with the characters in our drama."
With its premiere scheduled for August 9 at 8 PM KST, Splendid Days aims to captivate a wide audience.
"I'd be lying if I said I wasn't greedy for viewer ratings," said director Kim.
"We're aiming for 30%. It's a story that many people can relate to."
