A new Netflix adaption of the much loved fantasy novel titled "Solo Leveling" has caused quite an uproar recently when news began circulating suggesting actor Byeon Woo Seok had begun filming.

The novel and its associated webtoon series have been one of the most talked-about Korean drama adaptation novels in recent times. However, issues with the casting have continued to grow with fan reactions largely attributed to the involvement of Byeon Woo Seok in the project.

According to a report published by Koreaboo, Byeon Woo Seok, who recently portrayed Prince I-an in the drama "Perfect Crown," was reportedly selected to play the lead character Sung Jin Woo in the Netflix production.

Speculation intensified after an online community post allegedly revealed a photo suggesting filming for the drama had already started. However, the picture soon went viral all over the web, sparking criticism among viewers about the casting for such an important adaptation.

Several netizens on the Korean website theqoo have voiced their dissatisfaction regarding the information about the updates to the production of the drama. Some even believe that this move may ruin the reputation of the show among fans of the original material.

One viewer vented his frustration at the current circumstances by saying, "It's such a waste...for such a good series." Another netizen, however, made his criticism more direct when he said, "It would've been fine if they just changed the male actor."

In fact, some netizens also posed questions regarding the reasons behind choosing this particular actor amid his negative reputation. One user wrote, "Why do they keep using him?" Other reactions reflected growing anxiety among fans about the future of the adaptation. One commenter stated, "We're in big trouble..." while another added, "We're screwed..."

According to reactions posted on theqoo, many fans also expressed concern over how the adaptation would be received by longtime readers and animation fans familiar with the franchise.

One user commented, "This is a highly anticipated series...and yet they are using him?" Another questioned the production's direction, writing, "What do we do now...who is going to act?"
