Actress Han Ji Eun, who has appeared in 'Be Melodramatic and Bad And Crazy,' finds herself under close public observation following the appearance of her pet crested gecko, which appeared shockingly weak during a recent episode of MBC's The Manager.

When the show aired, Han showed fans her pet, Moni, a crested gecko she had apparently been given by a friend some five months prior.

"She got the gecko from an acquaintance about five months ago," her manager told Han during the episode.

Though the program attempted to present Han as an affectionate pet owner, Internet viewers—especially reptile keepers—swiftly began complaining about the health of the animal as seen.

Following the viewing of the segment, a user on X posted a blunt response:
"I heard a crested gecko appeared on The Manager, so I watched it... But it's nothing but bones... How often has it even been fed...?"

Photos from the show spread far and wide throughout online message boards, eliciting acid responses from alarmed viewers.

"I don't know much about geckos so at first I was like, 'What's wrong with it?' But after seeing other gecko pictures... Ugh, it's heartbreaking," one viewer posted.

Another added, "Even as someone who doesn't know much about geckos, I can tell by watching the video that it's not well. I just hope nothing bad happens."

Criticism mounted as comparisons were made with more common pets. "Imagine if it were a dog or cat—something everyone recognizes—coming out on TV so skinny you can see its bones. The community would've exploded with animal abuse accusations," one netizen said.

Korea's popular exotic pet YouTuber, @THEZOO_kr, also chipped in. "It really is nothing but bones," the YouTuber commented.

"If a dog or cat had been shown this emaciated on TV, people would've freaked out long ago."

A second viewer vented anger at apparent ignorance. "Claiming 'she didn't know' doesn't hold water. That's elementary-level common sense."

Up to publication, Han Ji Eun has not made any official statement regarding the claims or public outcry.

The crested gecko, Moni, continues to be at the heart of an increasing dialogue on exotic pet care and exemplary pet ownership within the entertainment sector.
