After School member and actress-singer Nana has openly revealed she had nearly all of her tattoos removed, and she has no regrets about it.

On October 2, Nana posted the following on her personal social media account: "Don't regret it. I left the only tattoo that gave meaning to my body. 1968, the existence I respect the most. I came back with a clean body. Overcame the pain and grew up firmly.
The pain of the past also became a memory. I wrote down my feelings at that time. I overcame it by honestly expressing, acknowledging, and accepting the pain.
I want to make a song that anyone can relate to. No one will have pain. I can overcome the pain. I want to give a message of hope to someone. I hope you are happy."
She went on by highlighting resilience through her experience, stating, "I have returned with a clean body, stronger after overcoming the pain. Even the sorrows of the past have become memories. At the time, I simply wrote down what I was feeling."
According to Allkpop, Nana's tattoos first drew attention in 2022 during the press conference for the film Confession. At the time, her full-body artwork sparked a wide discussion, though she clarified that it was a personal choice unrelated to her role.
United Daily quoted that Nana announced in August 2023 that she had started to erase her tattoos at her mother's request.
She remembers telling us the conversation, saying, "My mom carefully said she wanted to see me with a clean body again. Since she allowed me when I first got them, I had no hesitation and said, 'Okay, I will erase them.'"
Though she has removed most of her tattoos, Nana decided to retain one design close to her heart: the year "1968," her mom's birth year.
She explained, "Recounting this action, that I overcame it by expressing, acknowledging, and accepting my pain honestly. I want to create music that everyone can relate to, to give someone out there a message of hope. I truly wish for everyone's happiness."
On the same day she posted her thoughts, Nana also celebrated her musical return by launching her first solo album, Seventh Heaven 16, marking a new page in her private and professional life.
