According to Koreaboo, the series, which is set during South Korea's 1997 financial crisis, started receiving praise for its nostalgic setting and strong start, but it seems to be losing that momentum.

One post on the Korean community site TheQoo noted that "while the performances and production are still solid, the writing and pacing have failed to keep up with early expectations."

A viral comment from the forum now read:

"It's so dull. Nothing happened again today."

Other users similarly complained, labeling the show as "boring" and "dragging on without progress."

Another viewer added:

"It looks like it should be fun, but it's boring."

One netizen criticized the repetitive storylines, saying:

It's like, "The plot feels the same every time... even the 'satisfying' moments aren't that satisfying."

Another comment was more critical, targeting the writer's style of long-format storytelling:

"I dropped it last week. This writer shouldn't be doing 16-episode dramas."

These reactions notwithstanding, "Typhoon Family" still attracts unprecedented viewership. Koreaboo cited Nielsen Korea's report, which indicated that the most recent episode marked its highest nationwide and Seoul ratings to date.

However, according to fans on TheQoo, ratings are not the same as satisfaction from viewers. As one viral post summarized:

"Typhoon Family is getting more and more reactions calling it 'boring.' Viewers say it keeps repeating the same frustrating storylines and unclear resolutions, while the slow pacing and drawn-out directing are also turning people away."

While the series retains its position as the highest-rated K-drama for this time slot, the growing online criticism could be the harbinger of a cooling in enthusiasm if some creative adjustments aren't made soon.
