Actress and broadcaster Jeong Ga-eun has spoken publicly about an identity theft case involving her ex-husband, drawing renewed attention to her past comments on marriage, divorce and personal recovery. Her remarks come amid public concern over the alleged misuse of her name in a large-scale fraud case.
During a January 7 broadcast of KBS 1TV's "Let's Live Together with Hwang Shin-hye," Jeong appeared with Hwang Shin-hye and Jang Yoon-jeong as the cast shared personal life stories through self-drawn life graphs.
Jeong reflected on her early career, recalling her debut after competing in the Miss Korea pageant and her rise through home shopping and variety programs such as "Roller Coaster." She also spoke about the contrast between professional success and personal fulfillment before becoming a mother at 39, which she described as the happiest period of her life.
According to OSEN, the conversation later shifted to Jeong's marriage and divorce. She explained that she chose to divorce two years into her marriage, about a year after the birth of her daughter, and revealed that a more serious issue emerged afterward.

Describing the shock of learning about the alleged fraud committed in her name, Jeong said, "I never imagined that that person would do that under my name."
Jeong married a businessman in 2016 and divorced in 2018. It was later revealed that her ex-husband allegedly concealed multiple prior fraud convictions before their marriage and is accused of committing fraud totaling 13.2 billion won (about $10 million) using Jeong's bank accounts. The Chosun Daily reported that Jeong filed a lawsuit soon after discovering the alleged identity theft.
Fellow cast members reacted with sympathy during the broadcast, expressing disbelief that the damage continued even after the divorce. The discussion highlighted the emotional toll such incidents can take beyond the end of a marriage.
Jeong's past remarks following her divorce have also resurfaced. In previous television and YouTube appearances, she spoke openly about how her experiences reshaped her outlook on relationships, emphasizing stability, transparency and personal recovery after a period of significant hardship.
