“You From The Stars” Faces Plagiarism Issues, Production Team To File Counter Lawsuit

Comic writer Kang Kyung Ok previously made the news by bringing up similarities between her comic "Sul Hee" and SBS drama "You From The Stars", and while HB Entertainment, the production team responsible behind the drama, denied the plagiarism claims, it seems that the writer will be taking matters to court.

On January 28, the writer posted on her personal blog her final stand on this issue. In addition, she included parts of the story where her work and the drama overlap, such as the 12 year reunion, the love triangle between a childhood friend, the alien staying on earth for 400 years and many more. She stated that she originally only wanted it to be known that her story was published first, but decided that she would not be quiet about the situation.

She said, "I just want it to be said that they not only have to face the legalities of the situation, but also its implications morally. Being a writer for a long time, I felt that it's my social responsibility to make this happen."

In response to the allegations, representatives from HB Entertainment said, "Since the writer is determined to take this case to court, the production team will likewise be taking legal action. The story of 'You From The Stars' is not plagiarized and it will be proven through due process."
