Kwon Sang Woo And Son Tae Young Are Expecting A Daughter

Actor Kwon Sang Woo and his wife, actress Son Tae Young are expecting a second child in February and they recently learned that their next child be a girl.

The actor announced his child's gender at a recent press conference for his drama "Temptation," which also stars Choi Ji Woo, Park Ha Sun and Lee Jung Jin.

"I knew about the pregnancy in early July when we were promoting the drama, but I didn't share the news then because the first three months of a pregnancy are the most critical," said Kwon.

He did announce his wife's pregnancy a few weeks ago on his online fan café but at the time he did not know whether he was expecting a son or a daughter.

He was happy to hear the news, as a daughter is exactly what the couple wanted next. They already have one son, Luke, who is five years old. His nickname is Rookie.

When Kwon Sang Woo finished filming "Queen of Ambition" last year, he spoke to Innolife about how much he enjoyed acting with child actress Park Min Ha. She played his daughter in the drama and their father-daughter interactions naturally led to thoughts of what it would be like to have a daughter.

"I thought that I might want a daughter like her," he said at the drama's completion. "I don't know whether my next child will be a son or a daughter but I do want to have another child. When I see Rookie play alone, I thought he needs a sibling."

Rookie has already come up with a nickname for the new baby, choosing to call her "Heart." And his parents decided they liked that nickname.

Kwon and former Miss Korea Son Tae Young married in September of 2008, a year before their son was born. They met at a dinner party and he won her heart.

They were both at the dinner party because he asked a friend to introduce them after seeing Son Tae Young act in MBC's "Come To Play."

Kwon Sang Woo has acted in more than a dozen dramas, most recently appearing in "Medical Top Team," and he also appeared in more than a dozen films. Son Tae Young is also a veteran of both dramas and films. Her recent dramas include "You're The Best Lee Soon Shin" and "Into The Flames." Her most recent film is "Love War."
