Being the target of negative comments is part of being a celebrity. And while celebrities do have to take such comments in stride, they are only human. Occasionally they feel they have to respond.
Actress and miss A singer Suzy was recently the target of some malicious comments. And she could only take them for so long before expressing her dismay.
The "Gu Family Book" star read the malicious and threatening comments on Twitter. According to TV Report, an anonymous person posted comments suggesting that Suzy should be exiled from the entertainment industry. They actually said they wished she would get in a car accident and die.
Suzy found such comments difficult to believe and tweeted back her disbelief.
"You wish I was dead?" she wrote.
It's not clear what, if anything, Suzy did to provoke such negative comments in the mind of the person who posted them.
She has become even more popular since her appearance as Dam Yeo Wool in "Gu Family Book." In 2013 Suzy acquired the nickname $10 million girl, signing more than 20 contracts with advertising agencies. She became the number one commercial model among all girl group members, even surpassing the members of Girls Generation. She took the title of commercial queen from singer and actress IU, whose popularity dropped after she was involved in a scandal and became the target of negative comments. After accidentally uploading a photo with Super Junior's Eunhyuk, IU was criticized and insulted.
Suzy's career is still going well. She will next appear in the historical film "Dori Artist" with Ryu Seung Ryong, Kim Nam Gil and Song Sae Byuk. She will play Jin Chae Seon, a pansori artist. Pansori is a Korean genre of musical storytelling that is accompanied by a singer and a drummer. Before Jin Chae Seon no female pansori singer ever performed in court. Kim Nam Gil plays Heungseon Daewongun, the prince she performs for. Jin Chae Seon's pansori teacher loves her and composes songs for her. But the prince also falls for her and it creates a dangerous love triangle.
Suzy's agency, JYP Entertainment is taking the malicious Twitter comments seriously. They will ask the police to investigate and will take legal action if necessary.
"We have zero tolerance towards those who send malicious comments to our artists, and have referred this to our legal team," said the JYP representative. "We will take legal action against those who spread untrue rumors or make empty threats."
