The Race Is On: Which Drama, Actor And Actress Should Win?
It's that time of year again. It's time for you the viewers to decide which drama, actor and actress should win the top honors.
It was a great year for k-drama and our list hopefully includes a few actors or dramas you feel passionate about.
Don't take it personally if you don't see your favorite drama on the list but it was hard to narrow it down. We had to balance things between dramas that were fan favorites, those that had high ratings and those that received critical acclaim.
A representative list should include a few comedies, a few melodramas and a historical drama or two. And we tried to include good ones in every category.
It was also tough to decide which actor or actress should make the list. While there were quite a few stellar performances this year, a few actors stood out for us. Some stood out both for their performances and for the sheer number of dramas they had roles in. Choi Jin Hyuk, for example, was in "Emergency Couple," Fated To Love You," and "Pride and Prejudice." Shin Sung Ruk was in four dramas: "You Who Came From The Stars," "Trot Lovers," "The Liar Game" and in "The King's Face," switching back and forth between villain and good guy with ease.
And some performances stood out because it was obvious that the actor had outdone himself. For example, singer-turned-actor Kim Jaejoong delivered the role of his career in "Triangle," the story of three long-lost brothers.
The same criterion was used to decide which actress made the list. Some had multiple roles, Baek Jin Hee, for example was the evil empress Tanashiri in Empress Ki, Jaejoong's love interest in "Triangle" and plays a kindhearted prosecutor in "Pride and Prejudice." Kang So Ra earned praise this year for her roles in "Doctor Stranger" and "Misaeng."
Actors such as Jang Nara and Jang Hyuk are on the list because they are so charismatic that they managed to make viewers laugh and weep in the same drama.
And then there are the actors such as Lee Jong Suk and Park Shin Hye who have talent and extra aegyo. They are so charming that it's hard not to enjoy any drama they are in.
