A few of our favorite k-drama stars start the New Year with a January birthday celebration.

For example, actress Son Ye Jin and model-turned-actor Kim Young Kwang both celebrate their birthdays on January 11.

2014 was a good year for Son Ye Jin. She reunited with her "Shark" co-star Kim Nam Gil in the adventure film "Pirates." Her role as a feisty female pirate earned her a Best Actress award at the Grand Bell Awards. Next year she will reunite with Kim Joo Hyuk, her "My Wife Got Married" co-star, in a political thriller film titled "House Filled With Happiness."

It was a breakout year for Kim Young Kwang. He charmed viewers playing a man in love with his best friend in the cable drama "Nine Plus Boys." Now he appears as a reporter and Lee Jong Suk's competition for Park Shin Hye in the hit drama "Pinocchio."

The day after these actors celebrate their special day, actress Lee Bo Young gets to celebrate hers. This year the actress played a distraught mother who gets a second chance to save her child in "God's Gift - 14 Days." This year she plans to take a break from acting as she and husband actor Ji Sung are expecting their first child in July.

Actor Lee Min Ki celebrates his birthday on Jan. 16. The actor appeared in two films in 2014, "Monster" and "For The Emperor." He can soon be seen inthe film "Shoot My Heart," playing an heir sent to an asylum so his relatives can steal his inheritance.

Actress Jung Yu Mi had a hit in 2014 when she played the quirky heroine in "Discovery of Love." In that drama her characters could not make up her mind between her past crush, played by Eric Moon and her current boyfriend, played by Sung Joon. She also appeared in the film "Manhole" and turns 32 on Jan. 18.

JYJ's Kim Jaejoong celebrates his birthday on Jan. 26. The singer, songwriter and actor won praise for his performance in the 2014 drama "Triangle." In that drama he played a self-destructive loser whose life is transformed when he reunites with his lost brother. He is currently preparing for his role as a genius intelligence agent in the upcoming drama "Spy."

Film actor Park Hae Il shares the same birthday as Kim Jaejoong. He appeared in four films last year, appearing in "Gyeongju," "Whistle Blower" and "My Dictator," as well as having a voice cameo in the film 'Santa Barbara."
